What type of information does an CarReport NOT provide?

CarReport does not provide the names of or information pertaining to a vehicle’s previous or current owner(s).

CarReport will not provide information on every accident a vehicle has been in. Only if an accidents has been reported to one of CarReport’s accident sources will it be highlighted within the report.

Where does CarReport get the data from?

CarReport collects data from various sources, including Government, Insurance Companies and many others.

What does “No records found for this vehcicle” indicate?
“No records found for this vehcicle” indicates that CarReport found no information registered in that category at that particular point in time. This could mean that we have not yet received that data or it could be mean there are no current interests recorded.
Mileage problems
The CarReport uses the database to search millions of records. It provides the best intelligence available to protect against clocking and will help you decide whether the car that’s showing a mileage of 32,000 may have actually covered 132,000 miles.
VIN / Chassis Number match

If the unique Vehicle Identification Number (VIN, also known as the chassis number) on the vehicle doesn’t match the registration document, this may indicate that it’s either stolen or a ringer.

Always check that the vehicle’s identification numbers stamped into the bodywork, on the chassis plate and behind the windscreen match the documentation and look original.

Valuation
Using industry data that is updated monthly, the CarReport will indicate the current market value (where available) of the car you’re considering buying – so you can see if you’re getting a good deal.

Vehicle Identification Number

What is a VIN?
VIN is an abbreviation for Vehicle Identification Number. It is the unique identifier for every car and light truck built since 1981. It is a mix of 17 letters and numbers. Think of it like a fingerprint for your vehicle – no two VINs are exactly alike, but it is ALWAYS 17 characters! (and it never contains an O, Q, or I).
Where can I find the VIN?
You can find the VIN of a vehicle in a number of places on a car, but most commonly on the dashboard (you can see it through the windshield) and also on the body of the car next to the driver’s seat when the driver's door is open. Sometimes it is actually on the inside of the driver’s door. On some vehicles, the VIN is also placed on the engine, hood, and other parts. The VIN may also appear on the car registration, insurance policies, service records and police reports for the vehicle.

CarReport Valuation Questions

Where are these valuations sourced from?
CarReport track used car values from a range of different sources including car auctions, dealer forecourts and classified adverts.
I need a valuation for my insurance claim, but my insurance company is offering me a different value. Why is this?
Insurance companies take into account the condition of the car at the time of the accident / incident, and will adjust the valuation accordingly. The CarReport assumes the car is in good condition and takes no account of aftermarket additions to the vehicle.
Why is a dealer offering me a different part exchange price?
There could be many reasons including the car's condition, whether the car you are buying will be financed by cash or dealer finance; or how much the dealer believes he could sell your car for locally. If you are still unsure we would therefore recommend asking the dealer directly.
Can I get a historic valuation?
The CarReport Valuation is only available for current passenger cars.
Why can't I find a value for my car?
Cars may not have a valuation if they are: outside the age range 6 months to 13 years old; or in short supply (specialist or limited edition cars)
I need further help, what should I do?
